For those of you that are fimilar with the old time classics you should know "Doom". So this is obviously one of those lets make a movie of a game type films and as you've probely all ready guessed its pretty bad.
Its obviously one of those films that a small film label has thought " Wow that would make a pretty good movie but all we need to do is slap some semi-famous person to it and it will sell" and as usual they were wrong.
The CGI when its used is pretty good i would say for a small film company and the customs for the monsters and that are good but the major thing that lets this film down i would have to say is the storyline and the acting. "The Rock" has to be the worst actor in this film and i know it was just the start of his acting career but the way he acts in this film makes it kind of seem like a comedy film in some ways, also a lot of things that happen in the film just make it seem like they didn't take making this film all to serious which is a major let down because it could have been an extremely good film.
Well if you aren't a fan of the original games its watchable i would say but just once its not really a movie you could go back and watch over and over again, but for fans of "Doom" stay away the film makes you feel angry cause they've took a good game and put a slight dent in its reputation

So as you can see guys my first review is about the new planet of the apes film. And first let me say for a prequel its not that bad, cause as we know not many prequels get it right when its pretty obvious that the film studio's have just looked at all the box office figures and thought lets make a prequel to make more money and they usually bring in the money cause we the public think it will be good but there usually not. Back on to the subject of this movie, as it is a prequel it is obviously set before planet of the apes (which is suppose to be a couple of hundreds of years in the future i believe) so this film is set in the present day. The films storyline is pretty solid with James Franco playing Will Rodman who is developing a cure for alsezmers so he can cure his father Charles Rodman who is played by John Lithgow.. As the film progress Will rodman ( James Franco) completes his hopes of coming up with a cure for his farther Charles Rodmans ( John Lithgow ) illness but finds that the cure my have some side effects that couldnt be forseen. You know the usual thing you would expect, but the film doesnt do the usual things you expect to happen with you think its going to go all wrong then and there and the films going to be over in another 30 minutes, it actually goes into a kind of romance and love story, with Will Rodman meeting Caroline Aranha ( Freida Pinto ) who is a vet at a local zoo that helps Will out when Caesar ( the offspring of one of the apes Will was testing his cure on ) gets hurt. The film then skips a few years ahead with Will and Caroline becoming more attached to one another and Caesar becoming more and more detached from humanity and wondering who and what he is ( which personally i thought was a nice touch to the film ), the more Caesar detaches from humanity the angryier he becomes. The movie on a whole is very good and does kind of tie in with the remake of The planet of the apes ( original 1968) which was re-released in 2001. The only major flaw with this film though is its set in the present im guessing where as the 2001 Planet of the apes film was set a few years in the future but apart from that its a good film and worth the watch
